I wasn’t too much of a fan of Buckley until I heard this song.  This excellent Jeff Buckley track was released  posthumous in 1998 on the album Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk. The song is written for his girlfriend Joan Wasser, better known as Joan as policewoman.

Diana Ross (born Diane Ernestine Earle Ross on March 26, 1944 and raised in Detroit, Michigan, although her family briefly lived in Bessemer, Alabama due to her mother’s illness) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress, whose musical repertoire spans R&B, soul, pop, disco, and jazz. Ross first gained prominence as lead singer of the girl group The Supremes, before establishing a successful solo career in 1970.

I first heard this song for the first time on a WBMX mixtape of Mickey Mixin Oliver.  Swept Away first appeared as a 12″ single on Capitol Records.  The version Mickey Oliver played was slightly different from the original.

Nancy Martin’s first solo release was “Can’t Believe”, released in 1982 on Atlantic. The song spread over Canada like wildfire eventually reaching the U.S. where Atlantic Records picked it up for release. This was her first American hit, but later that year she scored an even bigger success with “I’m Gonna Get Your Love” credited as her other artist name: Jade. Thanks to a Disconet remix (U.S.A.) and versions on Polydor (Canada), Rams Horn (Holland) and Dureco-Benelux (Netherlands) the song became a global sensation. I think it’s a huge dancetune.

Free At Last is the first release by Simon Pearson on the Future Dreams Label in 2000. In 2001 it was re-released on the Positiva Records label, a sublabel of EMI records. The lyrics of this gem are excerpts of the famous Martin Luther King’s speech on 28t of august, 1963. Martin Luther King envisioned a future were all ethnic groups could live together in harmony.

I remeber the crowd going wild in the Old Eskimo Factory when Felix Da Housecat played this tune at ten days off, that summer.
The song appeared also on the compilation album La Roccasino: Let it Roll, released after their summer party in the Ostend Casino.

Hooverphonic is a Belgian based group, formed in 1995, who originally named themselves “Hoover”, then releasing their first album “A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular” under that moniker. Later, the famous vacuum cleaner company (by that same name) forced them to change their name for legal reasons. 50 Watt is the one of the single releases of Hooverphonic newest album The President Of The LSD Golf Club, released on the Tracks record label. For Tracks, it is their first non-Daan release. Hooverphonic consists of three members: Alex Callier, Geike Arnaert and Raymond Geerts. I’m a big fan of Alex Calliers work. His theatrical sounds are perfect soundtracks for long car drives.

This song is one of the songs on Madonna’s newest album ‘Hard Candy’, that was released on the 29th of april 2008 on Warner Bros records. This album adds the Hip Hop and Urban influences to the Diva’s style spectrum. For Hard Candy she collaborated with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, Danja and other urban geniuses. While ‘4 minutes’ is the official promo single for Hard Candy, I prefer this incredible. My guess is if she releases this Incredible just before summer in a radio version, she could score a massive European summerhit. The sound is subtle, fine and sunny and the lyrics of Incredible are just summerpolished perfect. If it’s not the people’s preference of a summer hit, it sure will be mine. Play this on a sundrenched saturday with a smooth caipirinha in your hand and you don’t need any imagination to feel yourself in heaven.

Moloko consists of former couple Mark Brydon and Róisín Murphy. Mark Brydon is a producer and the charismatic singer Róisín Murphy, who teamed togeter in 1995 to make te album ‘Do you like my tight sweater’. Rumours go that ‘Do you like my tight sweater’ were the first words that Róisín said to Brydon, on a party in Sheffield.

Forever More was the third and last single release of the forthcoming album Statues in 2003. Forever More and the album Statues were released on the dutch record label, Roadrunner Records.

The Balearic Soul remix was done in 2005 and has never been released. It appeared white label under catalog number BALEARIC001 in the UK. Balearic Soul is the name of Spanish DJ and producer duo Gonzalo Luis & Ramon Lopez.
